Debi is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist whose music carries a lot of warmth, presence and joy. She leads Jewish lifecycle events, including bar and bat mitzvahs and shiva services and is equally at home in formal ceremonies and small, intimate gatherings.

She also performs at festivals and teaches songs to small groups, creating musical spaces that feel welcoming and easy to enter. Debi is open to session work and enjoys collaborating across styles, bringing both skill and feeling to the music she shares.

“Yom Kippur is the practice of introspection in order to arrive at a shared understanding for all of us to know exactly what we need to do to change our world. For this, a community needs a leader to take us to this place of knowledge. For us, we have placed our trust in Deb Roemer to be that leader . For more than a decade, Deb has led us in the Kol Nidre service and has been our guide for the start of our most important holiday.

Each year- with a strong and vibrant voice, with strong and present spirit, and with an open and warm heart – Deb transports us into the sacred space of worship. The Kol Nidre chant is haunting and profound, and as Deb’s voice bends the notes, our prayers coalesce. Deb’s chanting embraces us and gently invites us into the enormity of the night. We are awed and humbled. Without Deb’s voice we could not enter into this sacred space of Yom Kippur.

Without Deb Roemer, there is no Kol Nidre.”
